Showing how it’s done is my motto for this summer semester. I’m going to get back to lecturing and workshop style instruction for my Web Design 2 class at El Centro. A post on Signal vs. Noise entitled, Knowing ‘How’, talks about how the skills that I teach in this class should be taught through hands-on experiences . So I’ve pretty much always taught that way. The difference this semester is that I will get back to lecturing a bit more and to have more discussions. I know I can do it this semester because the students learned what they were supposed to learn in the previous semester. The students this semester are not slackers. They want to learn because they have a purpose. That encourages me to do all I can to ensure that I facilitate a great learning experience for them. I’m pretty excited.
